City Hideaway

Working with existing hard landscaping, including a raised fish pond, decking area and paving, we created a secluded oasis in the heart of the city. Making the most of large pots, we layered plants in varying heights including a large Fatsia, giving a tropical feel. A tall climbing rose reaches over the fence and shed.

Adding large rocks and plants to the tiered section of the pond invites wildlife in, now a home to hoverflies, frogs and dragonflies. Birds splash in the shallow area and foxes come for a drink.

Adding a log wall as a feature in the fence line behind the wall gives a different texture and creates habitat for various small creatures.

Long flowering erigeron spills out over pots and raised beds, softening the hard lines. Planters turned on their side showcase echeveria on top of the shed. Festoon lights complete the cosy hideaway feel.
